What was Casey's total score for eighteen holes of golf?


(1) Casey's score for the first nine holes was 13 less than his score for the last nine holes.
(2) Twice Casey's score for the last nine holes was 58 more than his score for the first nine holes.

Say Casey's score for first 9 holes be a and next nine holes be b

1) b-a =13 , not sufficient
2) 2b -a = 58, not sufficient

Combining, 2 equations in 2 variables, can solve, Hence C

let score of first nine goals be x and that for last nine be y
hence
s1) y-x=13
insuff
s2)2y-x=58
insuff

s1)+s2)=we can get x and y
totaling gives the ans hence C

St.1 L-F = 13/...... but that is not suff. to calculate the total..
St.2 2L - F= 58 ... again insuff.
combine..) adding above two 3L= 71 its coming in fraction ( I donno score is applicable or not )
if applicable
L= 71/3, F= 71/3-3 = 62/3
total = (71+62)/3 = 133/3 suff...AnsC
