What is the simplified of following the steps below in order?

(1) add 5y to 2x
(2) multiply the sum by 3
(3) subtract x+y from the product

A. 5x+14y
B. 5x+16y
C. 5x+5y
D. 6x+4y
E. 3x+12y

The OA is A.

Please, can any expert explain this PS question for me? I don't understand why that is the correct answer. I think that I'm doing something wrong. Thanks.

(1) add 5y to 2x
We get: 2x + 5y

(2) multiply the sum by 3
Get get: 3(2x + 5y)
Simplify: 6x +15y

(3) subtract x+y from the product
We get: 6x +15y - (x + y)
Simplify: 5x + 14y

Answer: A
