From each of the two given numbers, half the smaller number is subtracted. Of the resulting numbers, the larger one is three times as large as the smaller. What is the ratio of the two numbers?
(A) 4:3
(B) 3:2
(C) 2:1
(D) 3:1
(E) None of these

C it should be

Let 2 numbers be x and y
Consider x > y

Then After subtraction ,
(x - y/2) and y/2...Among these bigger one is (x - y/2)..Since x > y

Given (x - y/2) = 3*y/2==> x = 2y so , ratio of x : y :: 2:1
