(A) Harold Macmillan's rise to the position of Prime Minister in 1957 surprised many

A shy, religious-minded publisher who had married a duke's daughter - require a subject and A, B and C starts with possessive adjectives and E starts with a position ( which can not get married to the duke's daughter)
