GMAT vs. GRE Revised

How can I decide upon which to take for MBA application? The new GRE is now more similar to the GMAT in that it relies on reading comprehension and critical reasoning (no analogies or antonyms).

I suggest taking an official practice test for GRE and GMAT and see where you stand for each.
You may discover that you are better suited to one test.

Take this advice with a grain of salt since I'm running a GMAT site--but if you're specifically interested in an MBA, I think the GMAT is the better test. Take a look at this article I wrote about this very issue here: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2010/12/ ... ke-the-gre

Hello!
I wrote a fairly extensive article about the current GRE vs. GMAT on my website, and it is still relevant in some aspects for the new GRE. Since you're applying to an MBA program it is likely that that GMAT is the better choice as stated by the above comments. However, for other people reading this comment the choice may not be so clear. You should consider taking the GRE if

1) Your school tells you they prefer the GRE. This is often the case for people applying to certain masters programs and PhDs (including some Business PhDs.)

2) You took the GMAT several times, didn't make any improvement, and still have a low score. In this case taking the GRE offers you a clean slate.

If you want to see the differences between the current GRE and GMAT you can read my article at
