Do several GMAT scores hurt you in the application process?

I take my first GMAT next Wednesday, May 16th and I must admit that I am terrified. I took a practice test 2 days ago (Manhattan GMAT) and got a 520.

I realized that I made a ton of stupid mistakes and I even got a few questions correct while reviewing the test before checking the answers.

It's too late to cancel, and I think that it will be good for me to go through with the experience,so that I know what to expect if I have to retake it- and I'm pretty sure that I will have to re-take it.

I was told that schools can see all of your scores. If you take the test 5 times and go from a 450 to a 720, is that frowned upon by admimssions panels?

SCB,

Taking the GMAT a few times and showing material improvement is not a problem for MBA programs. Getting better at it shows persistence, and I have helped many clients with a similar situation. Just don't rush the next attempt if you indeed need to retake. Getting to the 720 you mention is better done in 3 tries versus 5, all things being equal.

I agree. As long as you demonstrate significant improvement in each attempt, your are fine.

I agree, I think it also shows devotion and commitment to go for an MBA.
