Imagine that we have 6 marbles in our hand and 4 empty bowls. We select one of the marbles. Where can we place it?
In any of the 4 bowls. So we have 4 choices.
Now we have the second marble in our hand. Where can we place it?
Again, in any of the 4 bowls. So we have 4 more choices.
The same goes for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th marbles.

So the answer is 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 or 4^6
