One way is to plug in a number for the total property. A number that you can divide by the denominators is best.

Let the whole property be 14. total = 14acres

John has 3/7, or 6 acres. Wren has 5/14, or 5 acres.

John=6, Wren=5, so John is 1/5 more than Jen. The answer is B
