To combine ratios the element common to each ratio must be represented by the same value.
2nd:4th = 3:2
3rd:4th = 1:3
Common element is 4th. Since 2*3 = 6, convert the ratios so that 4th = 6:
2nd:4th = 3:2 = 9:6.
3rd:4th = 1:3 = 2:6.
Thus, 2nd:3rd:4th = 9:2:6.
Converted 2nd:4th = 9:6.
1st:2nd = 1:3
Common element is 2nd. Convert the bottom ratio so that 2nd = 9:
