so on day 1 he can pick any shoe, shirt and pair of pants
1*1*1

on day 2
2/3*1/2*2/3

on day 3
1/3*1/2*1/3

so multiplying day1*day2*day3 we get

1*1*1 * 2/3*1/2*2/3 * 1/3*1/2*1/3

(1/3)^4

Another approach...

exhaustive cases = (3*2*3)pow3

fav cases = (3*2*3)(2*1*2)(1*1*1)

so probability = 1/81

in question it says that guy picks "1 pair of pants " and that's confused me as I thought he is picking 2 pants each day.
But I am thinking he cant wear them both at the same time :-)
