After we take out the 2's, the amount that's left over must be a multiple of 24

A--48*2=96; 124-96=28, which is not a multiple of 24.

B--35*2=70; 124-70=54; not a multiple of 24

C--30*2=80; 124-80=44; not a multiple of 24

D--29*2=58; 124-58=66; not a multiple of 24

E--26*2=52; 124-52=72, which is a multiple of 24
