1. X is a multiple of 3 - 3,6,9,....
we dont know the value of Y -- insufficient

2. Y is a multiple of 3 - 3,6,9
we dont know the value of X -- insufficient

Combining both :

X + y = 3+6 = 9 ( odd )
X + Y = 6 + 12 = 18 ( even )

insufficient. it is E
