6 boys and 4 girls sit together

by talaangoshtari » Fri Sep 25, 2015 11:15 pm
Is there a difference between these two statements?

1. In how many ways can 6 boys and 4 girls sit together such that no two girls are together?
2. In how many ways can 6 boys and 4 girls sit together such that all girls are not together?

Neither question stem is well-worded.
1. In how many ways can 6 boys and 4 girls sit together such that no two girls are together?
Here, the portion in red is intended to convey that no two girls may sit in adjacent seats.
While the intended meaning is clear, the following wording seem better:
How many ways can 6 boys and 4 girls be arranged in a row of 10 seats if no girl may sit next to another girl?
2. In how many ways can 6 boys and 4 girls sit together such that all girls are not together?
Here, the portion in red could be interpreted in many ways.
