Direct from Undergraduate Review

by brs10 » Tue Apr 21, 2009 8:11 pm
Hey Stacy,

I'm am currently a Juinor at a small private school. I have many leadership roles and quality extra-c's.

I am trying to get an MBA straight out of undergrad. I take the GMAT in sept and am aiming for 700-720.

My GPA:
Frshman: 2.7
Soph: 3.7
Junior: 3.71

what do you think my chances are at U of M, Tuck, Yale, Columbia ?

I know some connections at U of M admissions but I'm not sure if it's enough

Besides work experience, how can I increase my chances at one of these programs?

Dear brs10,

You have some of the most selective schools on your target list. A couple of years of quality work experience will definitely make your profile more competitive. However, if you are determined to try and enter direct from undergraduate studies, you will need to score in the high 700s (>730) and convey a solid rationale for entering business school immediately versus working for a few years. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate the maturity to handle both the program and working with teammates that could be as much as 10 years older than you. Finally, you will be expected to have some professional internships and a successful track record in leadership roles in your extracurriculars.

Best of luck,
Lisa
