Given its authoritative coverage of other science topics modifies the textbook and not the chapter of the textbook, Therefore eliminating A,B,D straightaway.

Now considering C and E :-

In C, which modifies the preceding noun "Genetics". Now Genetics does not leads one to doubt the author's scholarship in that particular area.

Hence E :-)
