What should i do ?

by amitdgr » Tue Aug 19, 2008 11:11 pm
Hi all,

I took my first GMATPrep last week, I scored 560 (Q30 , V37). My quant is and has been always bad.

Background: I am an engineer but quant has never been my forte. Verbal also i am not very strong (not a native).

Actually i haven't yet started my proper prep. I have bought OG11(orange one) but have not opened it yet. Should i learn the concepts first and then open the OG or should i right away start with the OG ?

I need to score a 680 for my target school. I have around 2 months to prep cuz i have my exam in oct.

I need your help guys. Please guide me as to what to do.

thanks a lot.

I have been seeing on u the forum for some time now. and i dont buy ur score... i think it was one of the bad days :(

Anyways.. i would u shud learn ur maths concept first from the basic level maths book.. Some of the question which are posted here are above average level of difficulty.. so please concentrate on ur basics first. and then start with OG and math guide. I would rate OG around 600 level in maths.. for advanced maths u need to solve Kaplan 800 or MGMAT practice tests.. i found them on the tougher side.

Verbal u shud have Manhattan SC .. its a bible for SC. CR i would suggest LSAT CR bible.. RC is only out of practice..

Nonetheless dont worry abt the gmat prep score.. feel free to approach any one of us on the forum.. if u require any specific advice PM us..

Do let me know if u require any other help...

All the best !!!

You have a big possibility of improving in quant, 2 months is enough.
Build you a file with quant theories and hard exercices you worked on. Try to make different categories: DS/property numbers/calculations/combinatory/probabilities/work problems/geometry...
After that, complete day after day with all the things you do not know, it will enable you to compare the different type of exercices.
You can check your efficiency by seeing if you fail the problems which have concepts that you have already worked.
Practice and practice in quant.
