The commission acknowledged that no amount of money or staff members can ensure the safety of people who
live in the vicinity of a nuclear plant, but it approved the installation because it believed that all reasonable
precautions had been taken.
(A) no amount of money or staff members
(B) neither vast amounts of money nor staff members
(C) neither vast amounts of money nor numbers of staff members
(D) neither vast amounts of money nor a large staff
(E) no matter how large the staff or how vast the amount of money


Please give explanations for the answers. The OA is D

no amount of = not even the greatest possible amount of
Example: No amount of talk is going to change anything.

Coming to the question:
A. No amount of money is fine. But you can't say no amount of staff members. Incorrect
B. Quantifier missing for staff members. Incorrect
C. Inappropriate quantifier 'numbers of' for staff members. Incorrect
D. Two correct quantifiers: vast amounts (of money) and large (staff). Correct
E. Wordy, Does not fit the remaining part of the sentence. Incorrect
