The computer company has announced that it will purchase the color-printing division of a rival company for $950 million as part of a deal that will make it the largest manufacturer in the office color-printing market.

Above is the right option, but to me it looks like "it" is clearly referring to "color-printing division", since both are "objects" of their respective clauses.

Please clarify.

My understanding is that "it" is referring to "rival company" instead of Color-printing, which is also incorrect reference. Experts please clarify this dilemma.
I'm no expert, just trying to work on my skills. If I've made any mistakes please bear with me.

When I read this sentence, both "it"'s refer back to the computer company.

"The computer company has announced a plan blah blah blah that will make it (the computer company) the largest manufacturer in the office color printing market"

It can not refer back to the rival company because that would not make sense.

Sorry, I was looking at two SC questions simultaneously. Not S-V-A but the "it" is properly referring to the computer company.

What I usually do is replace the pronoun with the object to see if it makes sense. If you do this, the sentence becomes more clearer and you can see what the author is trying to say.

Sorry for the confusion.
