Resume question

by kyle8285 » Sun Dec 19, 2010 11:32 am
hello. when submitting your resume as part of the b school application, should we include a goal or objective at the top? i know this is quite common in the business world when submitting your resume for a job application but i'm not sure how i should approach this for a b school application. my background is finance but im looking to make the switch to consulting so is this something i should convey in that brief goal or objective line at the top of my resume. thank you!

kyle8285,

No, an objective line is not necessary, nor is a 'professional skills' or summary section at the top. Do include a personal interests section at the end, however, and also make sure to 'de-techify' the resume so a layman can read it and not get bogged down in jargon. In your bullets, emphasize leadership and bottom-line impact rather than technical achievements.

Hope this helps,
