Hi.. I am an Indian Charted Accountant and have 3 years of work experience with Deloitte as an Articled Assistant - Audit, as part of the CA course.. It was a full time job and i was on Deloitte's payroll too.. My responsibilities were primarily relating to auditing of Indian companies.. On many occasions, I had carried out the audits individually and had also lead audit teams in my 3rd year there..

Will this be counted as good work experience in top business schools in US..? I can get letters of recommendation from my superiors specifying the details of my role and duties there.. Kindly get back ASAP as I am trying to catch the first round of applications for Fall 2011..

Thanks..!

Hi,

Thanks for the additional information. Yes, your experience at Deloitte in audit will certainly count as work experience since it was full time. You refer to this role in the past, does this mean you are no longer working?

Best,

Stacey

Hi once again.. Tks a ton for ur response.. Appreciate it.. Yeah I m no longer wit Deloitte since my internship period ended this march.. And was offered a regular full time employment, but chose not to accept it as I wanted to take time off to prepare for GMAT effectively.. I am lookin at joinin in Fall 2011.. So I don't hv too much time in hand for thr overall process.. Does this matter..? May I kno the reason for ur question.. Jus curious.. :)

tks a lot

cheers

Hi,

I think you should consider working full time for a year or two and then apply. While your work experience does count, you were interning and while it was full time, it was an internship and therefore may not have the same impact that regular full time experience will have on your applications.

Remember you will be compared with other applicants who have solid internships as well as post undergraduate work experience. A couple of years of full time experience could make your profile much more competitive.

Regards,

Stacey
