Retake 710 low IR ?

by hellother » Fri Nov 02, 2012 8:08 pm
Hi,

I got a 710 on the gmat Q50 V36, AWA 6/6 and IR 4/8...

Firstly,I am not going to apply for any b schools now... I am going to apply only after 2 or 3 yrs of work exp.... I am going to finish my undergrad study... and I don't think it is going to be good enough to apply to schools without work exp..
I was browsing the internet and I found a lot of pages in which "experts" have advised not to retake the gmat once you have got a score above 700 ...Reason they have given : Adcoms don't look at gmat scores alone...
poor "managerial" decision to retake gmat once you get a score above 700 etc etc...

OK..Sounds fine.. But I have got an average IR score... So should I retake the gmat (ie) Are my chances of admission ( after 2 years when IR MAY have some significance ) going to become weak because of this one IR score ?

Simply put,
1. Should I retake the gmat because of this IR section ? ..
2. I know that I will be able to get about 730 - 750 if I write again, but is it really worth the time and effort because they say that 700+ is the threshold and retaking the gmat after getting a "good score" is viewed negatively ?

Eagerly waiting for a reply,
Thanks in advance
