C. 29 degrees C
D. 47 degrees C
E. 51 degrees C

The answer is C
85=(9/5)C+32

53=(9/5)C

C=53(5/9)

53 is not divisible by 9, but 54 is. 54/9=6, 6*5=30. Since we rounded up the true answer must be slightly lower.

It is given that F = (9/5)*C + 32
And the question is if F = 85, what is C?

--> 85 = (9/5)*C + 32
--> 53 = (9/5)*C
--> C = 53*(5/9)

53*(5/9) is slightly less than 54*(5/9) = 30

Hence, C must be approximately equal to 29.

The correct answer is C.
