690 to 750+ in 6 months

by djc » Mon Jan 05, 2009 4:49 am
Hi Guys,

Took my Gmat in Nov and got a 690(q47,v38). Have decided to take it again and have around 6 months. Target score is 750+. Have to say i had very little preparation (about 8 full days) and absolutely no plan at all. just did most of the ogs and some kaplan stuff. also took some manhattan tests.

I have six months to impove my score. However I have came across very little stuff that is really challenging(particularly in maths). Please suggest the best resources, keeping in mind that I am aiming for a 750+ score. I have seen kaplan 800 and it seems good(particularly RC). Anything else like it(books, online resources, tests etc)???

I know you asked about quant, but I'd strongly recommend that you try to improve your verbal foundational skills. A great way to do this is simply to read well written material. Start reading the newspaper every day, for example, from now until your GMAT. It will take time and be very subtle, but your verbal scores will really improve if you get into the habit. Sometimes the difference between a great score (690) and a REALLY great score (750+) is "GMAT intuition" that comes from lots and lots of practice.

Good luck!
