Good in Paper tests, terrible in CATs

by obsessed_GMAT » Sun Jan 24, 2010 12:15 am
Hi All,

I took the GMAT on Dec 21 and scored a 700. I am taking the GMAT again on the 8th of Feb.

I do exceptionally well in paper tests. My accuracy rate is 95%+. Somehow, I am VERY bad when I take tests on the computer. What do I do?

Does anybody else have this problem? I don't know why I make these errors on computer! I have been taking some tests on the computer and my accuracy level is 60% quant and 50% verbal. When I look at the same questions later, I cant believe I got them wrong.

Pl HELP!!!!!

if you scored a 700 in december on the GMAT it doesn't seem like you're having too much difficulty taking the exam on the computer... am i missing something?

Well, the problem is that my verbal scores are not improving!!! I had a 38 Q on the real GMAT. But if I take the same test in a paper format, I get most answers right. I want to score above 44 in verbal.

Hi,

Are you doing a lot of rough work on the paper for CR/RC? It could be that you are used to read content on paper and not on screen.

You can try this. Get a newspaper/magazine. Read an article with timer and see how is the comprehension. Now do the same activity by going on the newspaper/magazine website and reading an article online. There should not be very big diff here.

Hope that helps.
