Hi Experts,

Please help.

I was going through the following question from O.G-12, unfortunately i got it wrong, however i corrected the conjunction error. The idiom caught me and got my answer wrong.

In MGMAT SC fourth edition book, it has mentioned idiom "except for" (Pg no. 154); however in the following question from OG-12, the answer is selected based on the idiom "Except in".

The following question is :-

Q116. Mauritius was a British Colony for almost 200 years, excepting for the domains of administration and teaching, the English language was never really spoken on the island.

(A) excepting for
(B) except in
(C) but except in
(D) but excepting for
(E) with the exception of

My answer was D, but in OG the answer is C

The explanation for C :- "except in" is an appropriate idiom.
The explanation for D:- "excepting for" is non-idiomatic

Which one is correct ? : "except for" or "except in"

Waiting for your reply
Thanks & Regards
Saurabh
