8. A huge flying reptile that died out with the dinosaurs some 65 million years ago, the Quetzalcoatlus had a wingspan of 36 feet, believed to be the largest flying creature the world has ever seen.
(A) believed to be
(B) and that is believed to be
(C) and it is believed to have been
(D) which was, it is believed,
(E) which is believed to be

the answer is C. I chose B. C seems not right to me coz "it is believed to have been" . Please explain

The sentence talks about creature from past hence a simple past tense must work out that talks about the creature, the belief stated here can be of present in nature hence I would opt out for D, the rest can be easily eliminated

What is OA though ???

Answe should be C

A&E refers 'believed to be' to wingspan not to Quetzalcoatlus..

B & D looks awkward
