GMAT MBA Total Confusion !

Hi All,

I am planning to write GMAT this year and want to get into a good Asian b school (preferably) for 2014 Batch.

Thing is, I haven't registered for it yet ( i promise, i will register soon). and haven't prepared for anything else, like recommendations ( have to get it) and other things.


My Profile is as under:

Gender: Male
Age: 24 Years
Work Exp: 3 Years
Domain: SAP
Industry:IT Services

Will all be possible by End of This Year ? The schools that I shortlist mostly have deadlines by Dec/Jan.......

Please suggest your valuable advice.

It is a lot to take on, but it is doable to get everything in during your time frame. Start studying for the GMAT now. Try to take in November and then you give yourself 1 chance a retake. Good luck!

Hey there,

As an Asian male in as IT a position as possible (SAP) at the age of 24, you're really in no rush. I agree with Jim in that you could potentially get everything done but I don't really see a reason to do that to yourself. I'd say take your time and focus on the GMAT this year. Then, next fall, apply to the programs of your choice.

Sure you COULD get everything done by Dec/Jan... but if you are hell bent on the 2014 batch then A) yes you must start now (ESP for the GMAT). Also, consider the possibility that you may have to apply in later rounds. I think Nov/Dec is R2 deadline time...

Thanks All,

But I have a query,

Assume I write GMAT in November and get a good score(700+) and apply to institutes that have Round 2/3 deadlines (as a last ditch attempt) and don't get through.

Can I then Apply with the same score to the same institute for next Fall (2015).The essays and resume might change a bit, but rest will be same. Will I have a fair chance then.

Of course you can apply with the score - that isn't expected to change. However, if you apply this year and don't get in, the rest of your application DOES need to change. You need to demonstrate clear growth and key themes that may not have been apparent the first time around. That's why it's better to be a first time applicant when you're at the perfect spot in your career versus being a reapplicant.

Right, unless you're applying to totally different schools then you'll be considered to be a re-applicant. That process an evaluation is different from that for 1st time applicants. If you can knock out the GMAT soon (some people can) then you shouldn't have a problem hitting R2 deadlines if you're willing to work hard.
