Profile Evaluation

by Fall10Applicant » Mon Oct 12, 2009 4:39 am
Hi Stacy and team,

Working hard on round 1 applications, and would very much appreciate an honest profile evaluation:

- Undergrad. GPA: 3.27, bachelors business administration (marketing), top 50 public school
- GMAT:
Attempt 1: 670 verbal: 44 quant: 37
Attempt 2: 660 verbal: 35 quant: 46
-Resume: 4.2 years with Fortune 500, multinational financial services company
-This is the only company I've worked for since college, but have received 2 promotions, held 3 different roles, and won multiple internal company awards
Extracurricular:
-involved in independent study, fundraising, and other events through a local organization
-active with an organized sports team
Demo: American, Caucasian

Will have solid recommendations from current and past supervisors. Targeting the following schools:

Ross
Darden
Stern
Fuqua
McDonough
Kenan-Flagler

Are these schools within reach? Do you think I'd have a shot at a Columbia or Chicago, or would apps. to those schools be a waste of time with my GMAT/GPA?

Thank you!

Dear Fall10Applicant,

I think your target list is appropriate with a mix of reasonable and reach schools. Your ultimate decisions will depend greatly on the strength of your overall application, so your essays, resume, and interview will play a significant role. Columbia and Chicago are certainly reach schools, as they are for everyone, but if you feel the programs are a good match for you and your career goals, then you might consider applying with a compelling application.

Good luck,
Lisa
