Much will take ONLY singular verbs. It is used for uncountable nouns.

It should be much... is...CORRECT!
much.. are.. WRONG!

Many is used for countable nouns.

A report ....... has concluded that much of the currently uncontrolled dioxins to which North Americans are exposed comes from the incineration of wastes.

Shouldn't you bold COMES , instead of ARE
Are refers to AMERICANS
COMES refers to MUCH of the dioxins
