Historians note that Kelly's discovery of iron purification via oxidation is 4 years as old as Bessemer's same discovery, but is nevertheless known as the "Bessemer Process."

"As old as" distorts the meaning by saying both of the discoveries are 4 years old.
"Older than" is required here.
Between C and E, E is correct as other option is showing wrong meaning and wrong parallelism.
