Which schools to apply to?

by gujralvikas » Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:49 pm
Hi All,

I am planning to apply for the Fall 2013 intake and need help shortlisting schools. I am interested in building a career in Management consulting. For shortlisting US schools, I am only interested in schools which offer loans without any co-signer. Currently, I am looking at Kellogg, Booth, Tuck, Fuqua, Darden and Ross. Any thoughts/comments/help is appreciated.

I believe Ross does not offer loans without co-signer anymore.

Your short list of schools are good, and your qualification is right up the alley for those schools.

One thing I would recommend you do more research on is where you want to work after school. Although all of those schools have strong placement in management consulting, they have different levels of ties to the individual offices. For example, if you want to work in the Atlanta office, Fuqua and Darden would give you a leg up due to the strong alumni connection in the Atlanta office.

Unfortunately there is no ready-made answer to this. I've written a post on business school selection criteria based on my own business school research. Hope you will find it useful.
