The following was used as part of an internet advertising company's appeal to businesses: Furniture Depot employed our internet advertising company to help. Since then its sales increased by 10% over last year's totals. Furniture Depot's success demonstrates how using our internet services can increase your profitability.

Describe how well reasoned you find this argument. ....

The argument states that using the internet advertising company's services can increase profitability for companies. The argument draws upon the example of Furniture Depot's profitability improvements and states the usage of internet advertising company's services as the key reason behind the improvement. However, it fails to consider several key factors that contribute to organizations' profitability. It makes assumptions about the impact of the internet advertising services, for which it provides no compelling evidence and support. It is therefore a weak and unconvincing argument.

Firstly, the argument fails to consider the distinction between sales and profits. It provides the example of Furniture Depot's increased sales but fails to provide the evidence on whether the profits went up as well. It's possible in case of Furniture Depot, that sum of fees paid and other costs associated with leveraging the internet advertising company's services to desired effect was higher than benefit achieved by higher sales numbers. In other words, it's possible that while Furniture Depot's sales went up, the profits actually came down. The argument does little to rule out that possibility.

Additionally, the argument fails to consider that Furniture Depot's sales may have improved for reasons other than internet advertising. Furniture Depot may have deployed numerous other marketing strategies and sales promotions that may have had the positive impact on Sales. In other words, the argument does little to clearly link the improvement in Furniture Depot's sales to their usage of internet advertising firm's services.

Finally, the argument relies too heavily upon observation made for one single firm. It fails to consider that companies in different industries and even different companies in same industry may bene! fit differently from the internet advertising firm's services. It's possible that other companies derive significantly less sales improvements compared to Furniture Depot. With this appeal, the internet advertising firm is asking the readers to take a huge leap of faith.

In conclusion, the argument presented above is flawed and unconvincing. It fails to consider several key factors and requires readers to take an unwarranted leap of faith. The internet advertising company could have made a more compelling case by providing data that clearly links the impact of their services to sales and profits of their customers across various industries.
