To get the maximum possible values of the cash disbursal, let's assume that no student passed in both tests. Thus, the total no. of students passed at least one test = 60 + 33 = 93

So, the maximum possible values of the cash disbursal = $93k;

To get the minimum possible values of the cash disbursal, let's assume that the total no. of students who passed the chemistry test passed the math test. Thus, the total no. of students passed at least one test = 60

So, the maximum possible values of the cash disbursal = $60k

Thus, the difference between the maximum and minimum possible values of the cash disbursal = 93k – 60k = $33k

The correct answer: B

Solution:

The maximum number of cash prizes awarded would occur if none of the students passed both exams. Thus, there would be 60 + 33 = 93 students who would earn the cash prize.

The minimum number of students to earn the cash prize would occur if all of the students who passed Chemistry also passed Physics. In this case, a total of 60 students (the number of those who passed Physics) would earn the cash prize.

The difference between the maximum and minimum possible values of the cash disbursal is $93,000 - $60,000 = $33,000.
