GMATprep 700 Q47, V39

by asamrai » Mon Oct 27, 2008 5:13 pm
Hey guys,

I just took the first prep test and have a couple of questions about the results.

1) I was under the impression that Quant and Verbal scores represented the number of correct questions answered on each section, however after going through review I realized that I missed about 10-13 questions in each section. What do Q and V scores actually represent?

2) I have done limited review prior to taking this test (Cracking the GMAT w/o any practice questions), as such I was really surprised to receive such a high score. Are the scores on practice test really representative of the performance on actual test?

Thanks.
Anton

The Quant and Verbal scores are scaled representations of your ability based upon the difficulty of questions you got right and wrong.

The GMATPrep practice exams are widely believed to be very representative of the official GMAT. If you can repeatedly score 700+ on the GMATPrep, you will definitely be capable of scoring 700+ on test day.

Review your errors and study what you believe to be your weak points. After a little bit of review, give the GMATPrep #2 a shot and see if you can break 700 again. If you can, you're probably capable of hitting upper 700's if you put in the work.

Good luck :)
