it's 6.
you should be looking for the element in 18th position.
there are nine 1s, four 2s etc..so on 18th position you have 6.

how u have done it, ? pls explain....writing 1 ,9 times and 2,4 times like that ?

Here is how this can be solved

median = middle value in case of odd number set & avg. of two middle values in case of even number set.

total number of values = 9+4+1+2+1+8+9 = 34

We have to find the value of 18th value.

9 values of 1
4 values of 2
1 value of 3
2 values of 4
1 value of 5
8 value of 6

9+4+1+2+1 = 17, therefore the next value will be the median

median = 6
