Doubt on Q no 210 & 218 of OG10 CR

by samyak » Sat Mar 27, 2010 10:51 pm
Hi All,

Can anybody help me to understand the explanation given for the correct answer choices of the Q no 210 & 218 of CR of OG10.

Q210:
What is wrong with extended? Why extending is more accurate?

Q218:
In option E, don't we need a 'be' at the end. i.e. .......measured and the results be published.

Thanks,
Samyak

it would be kinda tough to answer the question if you dont hav OG 10 ...so can you please post the questions ...

as far as "extending" is concerned ...might be related to parallelism ...it is a participle ...look at the other part if that is a participle or not ....

210) indeed "extending" is participle ....look at the parallelsim here ...."extending" refers back to "a giant fungus" .....the first part of the parallel structure is "interwoven" .....which is past participle ....to parallel this we need "extending" the participle form of extend.

218) "be" is there

"(E) that the levels of bacteria in seawater at popular beaches be"
