760 (Q51, V41)

by shubhankar85 » Sat Oct 11, 2008 7:20 pm
Hi guys

Took my GMAT a few days back. Scored a 760 (99 %ile) with Q51 (99%ile) & V41 (92%ile) :) :)

Many thanks to all the people who contributed with their experiences at Beat the GMAT, and my special gratitude to aim-wsc for tirelessly sharing his wisdom on MBA forums & his blog.... Proved to be mighty useful for me..!!! :D

I have a small concern though, I scored just a 4.5 in the AWA... :( :(

From what I have read across several forums, AWA scores are never deal-breakers (or even deal-makers for that matter). But can a low AWA score reduce the effective value of the (otherwise) good GMAT score..??

Would really appreciate inputs..!!

On my website, I posted a blog entry, based on GMAC research, about how schools use the AWA result. Perhaps it will answer some of your questions about the AWA result. You can find it here:

Thanks for your informative blog post Ian, but what I believe (based on many other forums & feedback from friends) is that the extent to which AWA scores are used by B-schools is merely a check of whether the AWA score is atleast 4.0 (In case it isnt, the capability of the candidate to write adequately is brought into question). Apparently, any score above 4.0 suggests that the candidate has adequate (Though not necessarily brilliant) writing skills

When you say "weak" AWA result...do u mean an AWA of less than 4.0 ?? Or would an AWA of 4.5 also be considered weak..??

Cheers
Shubhankar

Guys, one more question

Is it worthwhile to apply for a revaulation of the AWA essays..??

Does the revaluation usually result in an increase in AWA scores... or is it not really worth the effort..??

Anyone got info on this..??
