NEED HELP - exam on 3rd August!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Diep » Mon Jul 27, 2009 3:14 am
Hi guys,
I could not sleep the whole night, wondering what happened with my GMATprep test. I got 690 (50Q/31V) and I have only a week left before the actual exam.
I aim to get 720+ and here are my practice test scores so far
6/6 GMATprep 1 680 (50Q/V30) ( after done with the OG 12 and before touching any other materials)
6/28 Mcat 1 690 (48Q/V36)
7/5 Mcat 2 690 (51Q/34V)
7/11 Mcat 3 710 (51Q/35V)
7/19 Mcat 4 740 (51Q/40V)
7/ 23Mcat 5 740 (51Q/40V)
7/ 25 Mcat 6 740 (51Q/40V)

7/26 GMATprep2 690 (50Q/31V) --> I am totally confused and disappointed. My verbal came back to the starting point 2 months ago. It seems like it does not improve at all after all the hard work.
However, I am wondering why there is a big gap between Mcat and GMAT prep. I made the same number of mistakes in both part (13 wrong) which scatter similarly and I got more 10 points in MCAT (!!!???)
Among OG problems, I normally get 80% correct in SC and RC and 90% correct in CR. What's is the possible explanation for poor performance in the test?
Can any of you please let me know your percentage of correct answers and your scores in practices tests and actual test?
Do you know if I want to get 40V, what is the approximately maximum number of questions can be wrong? ( I know that it depends on whether the questions are at the beginning or the end, but I just want to get some idea about what it is )
Thanks a lot,
Diep

It's incredible how 2 people can be in the exactsame soup. I posted this just hours after you posted your entry.

I think you should shrug it off as a score that doesnt matter. Someone who is consistently scoring above 700 in mocks will at least 720 in the main exam.

I am not speaking from experience of wiritng the test, (I am writing the gmat on Aug 8th btw), but from my experience of following the preps of lotsa ppl and their final scores. At the end of the day, it is all in the mind. GMAT is a very very tough test in that you must not tire mentally. If you are able to keep your cool and go in full steam for the whole test, you will surely get your desired score... ATB! Do let us know what happ on Aug 3rd!

Regarding scoring on the test, none of us can answer your question on how it is done.

GMAT Prep has given me 750 with 42 in verbal and 44 in verbal, both times with 49 in quant. So. dont bother about the scoring. Your prep is almost over, revise everything! Pump yourself for the test, keep the momentum going. Take another test to improve your confidence.

I just wrote GMAT, 720 (51Q-35V). I am pretty much happy with the first time of 720 but I will take it again, since I have time and I want to get scholarship.
Thank you guys
