Can anybody tell me how you evaluate
5^k(1-1/5)?

5^k * 1 = 5^k

How about
5^k * 1/5?

Is it just 5^K/5?

5^k*(1-1/5)=4/5*5^k or 5^(k-1)*4.

5^k*1/5=5^k*5^-1=(5)^(k-1)
