GMATPrep score 450 (first test) Need Help

Some one please give me some advice. I purchased GMAT Premier Program 2008 Edition and went through the entire book (completed all the sample problems). Then I took the GMATPrep test and scored a 450 (Q27, V25).

How should I proceed? I'm looking to get a 550-600 as that's all I will need for enterance into Wayne State (I think).

I'm registered to take the GMAT on Jan 19. Please some one offer some advice on how I should proceed, thanks.

you need to figure/point out where your weakness is in order to practice more on that section so you obtain better results.

Hi BigDude,
I agree with BBJ - you need to figure out your weaknesses. Since you don't have much time left, you won't have time to analyze each and every weakness you have. Your best bet is to buy the Official GMAT books (preferably the Eleventh edition) and solve the problems there. That should help you prepare for the test. A score of 550-650 is well within your range. Best of Luck!

p.s - If you can postpone the test by a week or two to enable you to study from these books I'd suggest you to do so.

Thanks for your input. I just purchased the Official GMAT (11th Edition) and I'm going to go through as much of it as I can before the test. How many more practice tests should I take? Thanks

For a normal course of study, I recommend taking a practice test once every 3 weeks for the first 2-3 months, and then one or two in the final two weeks before you take the exam. Doesn't sound like you have that kind of time (I agree with parore26 - if you can postpone a few weeks, do so).

Don't think of the practice tests as practice to help you get better. Rather, the practice tests are a read-out to see whether your work between tests has allowed you to get better. You get only marginally better just by taking lots of practice tests.

Do a decent amount of concerted work between tests - even with limited time, I never recommend taking more than one test a week (and I still don't like my students to take tests that frequently, but sometimes schedules just won't allow for the ideal plan). So between now and Jan 19th, maybe two more tests.
