I'm from a Non Math background , so i decided to try the official guide for math and then move onto some other book.
I have OG 11th edition and i have done problems 1- 140. I did not find the questions challenging enough and i felt that they would not give such questions in the real exam .I really don't know the truth (but i felt so).
As i have no one to guide me on which books to follow for a good score in Quant, i have approached my best companion, beatthegmat.com and hope for a proper guidance as always.

You should get the Manhattan GMAT math guides. They are great guides and they have a great reputation on this site.

If you want more challenging questions, try MGMAT maths books, they are quite good according to me.

Always borrow money from a pessimist, he doesn't expect to be paid back.

Another thing, you may want to check out purplemath.com. They have a great tutorial on work problems. Also, do the last 50 problems of problem solving and data sufficiency to get a better idea of what the more difficcult problems look like.

I also support the MGMT math books.

I switched to them after a few months of studying with Kaplan (both online and in a physical class).

The MGMT books do an excellent job at explaining the complex math topics on the GMAT as well as provide exceptional strategies.

MFaulkner what was the main reason for the switch to MGMAT? Had you jsut exhausted all of Kaplan? I use MGMAT because I'm in the class, but I'm thinking about getting Kaplan for some more practice post-class.

I primarily made the switch because I had exhausted all of the Kaplan material. In addition to attending all of the classes that I signed up for I had completed all of Kaplan's online lesson material and CATs (I actually took all of the CATs twice).

However, I also made the switch because I was a little disappointed with the Kaplan course in that I feel like it did not cover advanced topics (700-800 questions) in enough depth. For instance, Kaplan covers the entire topic of sentence correction with less than 40 pages in the course book and a handful of lessons online. MGMT on the other hand, has a sentence correction strategy guide that exceeds 300 pages. This trend unfortunately follows true for nearly all of the GMAT topics within the Kaplan course.

As far as Kaplan's CATs go, the content itself is actually fairly decent. However, the scoring algorithm is really awful and I would not take your scores as a grain of salt.

Don't judge the difficulty by the first half of the questions. They get progressively harder. Try the last 50 or 100 problems and see what you think. Also, while the first questions are easy, the topics are the same as the more difficult questions...just the easy ones have training wheels. Congrats on smoking them! But make sure you understand exactly why you got the answer correct and look at the solution to make sure you implemented all possible shortcuts and tricks.

Have you thought any more about this?

I'm on the hunt for some new CATs as well given that I only have two MGMT CATs left. I'm thinking about 800Score but I've come across several mixed reviews.
