Say Company M ordered x no. of computers and y no. of printers, and Company N ordered p no. of computers and q no. of printers.

Thus, x + y = 50 and p + q = 60.

We have to get the value of y.

Let's take each statement one by one.

(1) Company M and Company N ordered the same number of computers.

=> x = p. However, this information can't get us the value of y. Insufficient.

(2) Company N ordered 10 more printers than Company M.

q – p = 10. However, this information can't get us the value of y. Insufficient.

(1) and (2) together

x + y = 50, p + q = 60, and x = p, we get q – p = 10, which is the same information that we get from Statement 2. Insufficient.

The correct answer: E

Hope this helps!

Her we have

Company M: a+b=50, Company N: x+y=60, b=?

(1) \(a=x\), ok, \(y-b=10\), not sufficient. \(\Large{\color{red}\chi}\)

(2) \(y=b+10\) same information as above, not sufficient. \(\Large{\color{red}\chi}\)

(1)+(2) We have twice the same info, so still not sufficient. \(\Large{\color{red}\chi}\)

Therefore, E
