Profile evaluation

by madhurakuppal » Thu Oct 01, 2009 11:38 pm
Hi
Kindly evaluate my profile.
i would like to know if it is possible to get admission with scholarships.

GMAT : 620(Q44 v32)
Work exp : 2 yrs in an IT industry as a programmer analyst
Education : Computer Science Engineering
Aggregate : 80%
I am planning to apply for IT management courses or MS/MBA dual degree.

Colleges targetted :
Katz (MS/MBA)
Smith (MBA in IT management)
Champaign
Smith
Krannert(Management information systems)
Mays
Eller (Management information systems)

Please also tell me about the other possible colleges that i could apply with my profile. (Scholarship is an important factor)

Strengths : displayed leadership qualities. was a prefect at both junior and high school level. Was the school pupil leader in my final year at school.

Weakness : not currently working. Had to discontinue my job because of my wedding (i had to shift location).

Smith and Krannert are stretch schools for you because of your GMAT. You have a somewhat better chance at the other programs. Finding a job now would also help your chances. The impact of your current unemployment would be magnified if you have been unemployed for a long time. Please see "Laid Off: How it will affect your application."

Linda

Hi Linda
Thanks for your reply.
I was not laid off but rather I voluntarily quit my job because of personal reasons. Does this make any difference? And moreover its only 5 months since i quit my job.

It's better to leave you job than get fired, but it still means that your competition has been learning and growing at work. The schools will want to know what you have been doing while laid off. They may also want to know the circumstances that motivated you to leave your job.

Best,
Linda
