We should know the use of clause:

Two independent clauses (IC) can be joined by the following ways:

1. IC + Period (.) + IC

2. IC + COMMA (,) + FANBOYS + IC.

3. IC + Semicolon (;) + Conjunctive adverb + Comma (,) + IC

4. IC + Semicolon (;) + IC

NOTE: Every complete sentence MUST have an IC.

Subordinate clause + Comma (,) + IC.

"Subordinate clause + semicolon (;)" is NOT correct.

We can eliminate A, B, D, and E.

Answer is C.
