All but 50 of the 1,000 plants at the annual flower show were sold. Of the plants sold, 30 percent were sold at a discount of 25 percent off the full price, and the remaining plants were sold at the full price of $12. What was the total revenue from the plant sales?

IMO C.

Total plants sold = 1000-50 = 950.
30% of 950 sold at 25% discount of the full price of 12$ so price = 9 $ /plant.
revenue = 30% of 950 *9 = 285*9 = 2565.
Rest sold at full price = 950-285 = 665 *12 = 7980 .
Total revenue = 7980+ 2565 = 10545

ohhhhhhhhh rather than 9 dollars i was using 3 dollars, should read it carefully.. thanks

We are given that all but 50 of the 1,000 plants were sold; thus 1,000 - 50 = 950 plants were sold. Furthermore, we are given that 30 percent of the plants sold were sold at a discount of 25%; thus 0.3 x 950 = 285 plants were sold at 25% discount.

Since the full-price plants were sold at $12 dollars each, the discounted-price plants were sold at 12 x 0.75 = $9 each. Thus, the revenue from the 285 discounted-price plants was 285 x 9 = 2,565 dollars.

The revenue from the full-price plants was (950 - 285) x 12 = 665 x 12 = 7,980 dollars.

Thus, the total revenue was 2,565 + 7,980 = 10,545 dollars.

Answer: C
