What is the slope of k?

by kobel51 » Mon Mar 03, 2014 2:59 pm
If line k in the xy-plane has equation y=mx+b, where m and b are constant, what is the slope of k?

1) k is parallel to the line with equation y=(1-m)x+b+1

2) k intersects the line with equation y=2x+3 at the point (2,7)

3 things are useful to know:
1) In the equation y=mx+b, m represents the slope.
2) Two parallel lines have the same slope.
3) The point at which two lines intersect, you can set the equations equal to each other.

The answer is A. I go through the question in detail in the full solution below (taken from the GMATFix App).
