What is the value of the positive integer m ?

(1) When m is divided by 6, the remainder is 3.
(2) When 15 is divided by m, the remainder is 6.

Let's take each statement one by one.

(1) When m is divided by 6, the remainder is 3.

m can be 9, 15, 21, ... etc. No unique answer. Insufficient.

(2) When 15 is divided by m, the remainder is 6.

Since m is a positive integer and less than 15, the only possible value for m is 9. Sufficient.

The correct answer: B

Hope this helps!

\(\dfrac{15}{m} = q + 6\)

\(m\) thus has to be more than 6
\(15 = mq +6\)
\(mq = 9\)
\(m\) can be only 9, since \(m\) has to be an integer, and \(q\) too.

Therefore, B.
