If x>8, x<17 and x+5<19, what is the range of possible values for x?
workings:-
x+5<19
x<14 so 8<x
x<17
x<14
Answer : 8<x<14
I don't understand why the answer is not 8<x<17.
The book's explanation is that x<14 is more limiting than x<17(In other words, whenever x<14, x will always be less than 17, but not vice versa).
Can someone please explain to me with examples? I don't understand the explanation.
Thank you.
