There is a triangle ACE shown as above figure. what is the measurement of ∠BDF?
1) ∠A=80
2) ∠C=40

If we modify the original condition and the question, we can know the angle BDF if we know the angle A. That is because ABD has 125 degrees and AFD has 120 degrees. There is only one variable. Hence, there is high chance that D is the correct answer. In the case of the condition 1), if A=80degrees, BDF becomes 35 degrees. Hence, the condition 1) is sufficient. In the case of the condition 2), we cannot know the angle of BDF, it is not sufficient. Thus, the correct answer is A.

- Forget conventional ways of solving math questions. In DS, Variable approach is the easiest and quickest way to find the answer without actually solving the problem. Remember equal number of variables and independent equations ensures a solution.
