Question: If "a" apples costs "c" cents, how many apples can be bought for "d" dollars? $$\left(A\right)\ \ 100acd$$ $$\left(B\right)\ \ \frac{100d}{ac}$$ $$\left(C\right)\ \ \frac{ad}{100c}$$ $$\left(D\right)\ \ \frac{c}{100ad}$$ $$\left(E\right)\ \ \frac{100ad}{c}$$ The OA si the option E.

I need help here. I got confused. Could anyone give me some help? Please.

Hi VJesus12,

We're told that A apples costs C cents. We're asked for the number of apples that can be bought for D dollars. This question can be solved by TESTing VALUES.

IF...
A=2, C=100 and D=1
Then 2 apples cost 100 cents... meaning each apple costs 1/2 dollar. By spending 1 dollar, we can buy 2 apples.
Thus, we're looking for an answer that equals 2 when we plug in A=2, C=100, D=1.
There's only one answer that matches...

Since each apple costs c/a cents, d dollars (or 100d cents) can buy (100d)/(c/a) = 100d x a/c = 100ad/c apples.

Answer: E
